About Ms. Mansi Tanna, Clinical Psychologist in Rajkot
I am a clinical psychologist practising in Rajkot and online across Gujarat and India. My work is structured, collaborative and grounded in methods with real evidence behind them, and it is offered in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
A short, no-obligation chat to see if working together is a good fit. Not a therapy session.
Training and qualifications
I hold an MPhil in Clinical Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Psychology, and I trained at the National Forensic Sciences University. I am licensed by the Rehabilitation Council of India, registration number A105936. In India, the MPhil in Clinical Psychology and RCI registration are what distinguish a clinical psychologist from the many unregulated titles in the wellness space, and you are entitled to check that registration for any professional you consult.
A clinical psychologist is trained in the assessment, diagnosis and psychological treatment of mental health conditions. I am not a psychiatrist and I do not prescribe medication. Where medication may be helpful alongside therapy, I will tell you plainly and can work in coordination with a psychiatrist.
How I work
I work primarily with cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy skills. These are described in detail on the approach page, but the short version is that therapy here has a shape. We start by building a clear formulation of what is happening and what is keeping it going, agree what you want to be different, and then use specific methods aimed at that.
You will usually leave sessions with something to notice or try during the week, because most change happens between appointments rather than in them. Nothing is assigned as homework for its own sake, and if something is not working we change it rather than repeating it.
I review progress with you openly. If therapy is not helping, or if a different professional or service would serve you better, I will say so. That includes referring on where a psychiatric opinion, a medical investigation or a specialist service is what is actually needed.
What sessions feel like
Sessions are conversations with structure. You will not be asked to lie on a couch, you will not be analysed silently, and you will not be pushed to talk about anything before you are ready. Where the material is difficult, particularly with trauma, the pacing is yours to set.
I take confidentiality seriously. What you say stays in the room, with the narrow exceptions required by law and where there is serious risk to life. In a city like Rajkot, where people worry about being recognised, that matters, and the privacy policy sets out exactly how information is handled.
Why I practise the way I do
A great deal of mental health advice in India is either dismissive or vague. People are told to think positively, to be strong for the family, or to simply wait for things to pass. Others are given a diagnosis with no explanation of what it means or what can be done about it.
My aim is the opposite of both. I want you to understand your own difficulty well enough to work on it, to know which method we are using and why, and to be able to see, in concrete terms, whether it is helping. Therapy should eventually make itself unnecessary.
Who I work with
I see adults, adolescents and, for assessment work, children with their families. Common reasons for coming include anxiety and panic, low mood, obsessive-compulsive difficulties, trauma, attention and learning concerns, exam and career stress, and relationship or family conflict. The full list is on the services page.
Clients come from across Rajkot, from towns throughout Saurashtra, and from further afield through online sessions across Gujarat. Sessions in person are held at Wockhardt Hospitals on Kalawad Road, described on the Rajkot clinic page.
