Fees and how sessions work

Everything here is stated plainly, because cost and commitment are two of the main reasons people delay getting help. There are no packages to buy and no minimum number of sessions.

Session length and frequency

A standard session is 50 minutes. That length is not arbitrary: it is long enough to work properly on something and short enough to stay focused, particularly when the material is difficult.

Most people start weekly. Momentum matters early on, and skills practised between sessions need regular review. As things improve, sessions typically move to fortnightly and then monthly before ending. Some people prefer fortnightly from the outset for financial or practical reasons, and that is workable for many difficulties.

How many sessions will you need?

Nobody can promise a number, and anyone who guarantees an outcome should be treated with suspicion. What can be said honestly is that focused work on a specific difficulty, such as panic attacks or a circumscribed phobia, often runs to somewhere between eight and twenty sessions. Longer-standing patterns, trauma histories and difficulties that affect many areas of life take longer.

Progress is reviewed against goals agreed at the start, so you can see whether it is helping rather than relying on a general impression. The shape of a course of therapy is described on the approach page.

Payment, receipts and cancellation

Payment is by UPI or bank transfer. For online sessions it is made before the appointment; for in-person sessions at the clinic. Receipts are issued on request and are dated, so they can be submitted to an employer or insurer where a policy covers outpatient psychological therapy.

Rescheduling is free with at least 24 hours' notice. Inside that window, sessions are charged in full. This is not a penalty, it is that a reserved 50-minute slot cannot be offered to anyone else at short notice.

Assessment fees

Assessment is priced separately because it is a different piece of work: an interview, one or two testing appointments, scoring, interpretation, a written report and a feedback session. The quote depends on which tools are required, and it is given after the introductory call so you know the total before committing. See psychological assessment and ADHD assessment.

If cost is the barrier

Therapy is a real expense, and for many families in Rajkot it is one that has to be weighed carefully. A limited number of reduced-fee slots are kept for people in genuine financial difficulty. Please mention it on the introductory call.

Free and low-cost options also exist and are worth knowing about regardless. Tele-MANAS (14416) is a free government helpline available 24x7 in Gujarati and Hindi, and government hospitals in Rajkot have psychiatry departments. These are listed on the resources page.

Frequently asked questions about fees

Fees are reviewed occasionally. Any change is communicated to existing clients in advance and never applied mid-course without notice.

Not sure if therapy is right for you? That's exactly what the free call is for.
